Auditions will be held from 6:30pm – 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 1 and Wednesday, November 2, 2016.

Callbacks will be held by invitation only, on Saturday, November 5.

Auditions and callbacks will be held at the Sermon Center, 201 N. Dodgion Street, Independence, MO 64050.

Audition Requirements

Actors auditioning for the roles of Doctor and Mother should prepare a two-three minute monologue to feature their skills and talent. Fill out an Audition Form or bring a resumé, be ready to talk with the director about your theatre experiences.

Actors auditioning for the role of Agnes please prepare a two minute monologue featuring your skills and talent, and be prepared to sing acapella. Fill out an Audition Form or bring a resumé, be ready to talk with the director about your theatre experiences.

Actors without monologues will be asked to do a cold reading from provided pages of a different play.  Fill out an Audition Form or bring a resumé, be ready to talk with the director about your theatre experiences.

Sides will be provided for those invited to  callbacks via e-mail.  Callbacks will be held on Saturday, November 5th

Characters

Dr. Martha Livingston, late 40s- mid 50s, court-appointed psychiatrist

Mother Miriam Ruth, 50 or older, Mother Superior of a small cloistered convent

Agnes, 21, a sister of the convent charged with manslaughter, which she cannot recall

Synopsis

A young nun is indicted for manslaughter, accused of murdering an infant she gave birth to in a cloistered convent. The case is assigned to a jaded, ex-Catholic psychiatrist to determine if the young woman was legally sane but is met with opposition by the convent’s Mother Superior.  As the two women fight for the soul and health of Agnes, the young nun, their battle explores questions of Faith, Innocence, Memory, Sainthood, Obsession, Belief, Forgiveness, and Miracles.
